Status of the current ID. software 3.0 OTA-wave

Dear ID. Drivers,
everyone who wrote us an "I want OTA 3.0" email has now received a reply. Unfortunately, the system-sided sending took a little longer. In the past few weeks, we received many questions about the progress of the current wave.
So, we would like to give you an overview:

How is the waving going?

• As of today, over 850 IDs. have successfully installed the first part of the update.
• Many more are currently in the installation or have already downloaded the software but have not yet clicked install. We contact the latter customers if we find that the update has not been installed even after several days.
• The second part of the update requires a completed installation of the first part, which means that the numbers are of course a bit lower, but here too about 800 have already installed or are still in the download and installation process.
• Unfortunately, we also found that the installation failed for about 30 vehicles. In these cases, the local Volkswagen partners helped, and the affected customers were kept mobile free of charge in the meantime.

What is happening right now?
Our team from development and quality assurance analyzes the findings gained, in particular why some customers do not install the update despite the successful download.
Initial analyses point to a possible optimization of the visibility of the installation button. This is located in the exit panel and is easily overlooked when getting out quickly. In some cases, however, it was not even displayed. This can happen if you drive off very quickly after getting into the vehicle and the software management client did not have enough time to start. We have developed measures to improve this in the future.
As requested by many of you, the We Connect ID. app will also play a central role in the future to record the update status quickly and conveniently. For this purpose, our app development is working on an integration to display the update status in the We Connect ID. app.

What's next for everyone who wasn't part of the wave?
We are working to make the update available as soon as possible, but we need to take many factors into account in further planning. The experiences and the exchange with you have given us important new insights.

Ricevuto anch'io il messaggio sibillino. Certo che questo aggiornamento è un parto gemellare... Diciamo che lo avevano anche detto che non sarebbe stato per tutti in una prima ondata, da quello che capisco non hanno fatto un sorteggio, ma hanno favorito tedeschi e paesi limitrofi anche per una questione logistica di gestione dei problemi di installazione, immagino. Dai commenti su ID.Drivers mi pare che siano rimasti fuori anche diversi tedeschi. Aspettiamo, magari entro la fine dell'anno parte un'altra ondata...

In 30/800 casi non sono riusciti a fare l'OTA.. quasi il 4%

una percentuale elevatissima x questo passaggio, se dopo serve andare in assistenza.

Per me è un gioco/aggiornamento. Non c'è fretta. La macchina funziona perfettamente. È un di più...e saranno molteplici in futuro. Ho creduto nel progetto e nei suoi sviluppi fin dall'inizio. La macchina è per tenerla. Fino adesso il tutto è al di sopra delle mie aspettative. La macchina è fantastica
La settimana scorsa un mio ha comprato una id4 nuova fiammante...ed ha il mio stesso softwate. 2.4. Ma io ho la macchina da oltre due anni...

Mah. Comincio a dubitare che saranno molteplici gli aggiornamenti. Già tirano indietro sulle funzioni dopo aver tirato indietro sulle tempistiche (3 mesi) per gli aggiornamenti.

Gestita male. Inutile nascondersi dietro un dito.

Poi la macchina va… ma alcune cose fondamentali che non funzionano ancora ci sono (una su tutte gli orari di ricarica e le posizioni non funzionanti, una feature dell’auto sbandierata ma mai funzionata)

Nuova ondata di aggiornamento 3.0 a partire da Dicembre...

Last week we informed you about the last status of the current ID. software 3.0 OTA-wave. Now that we have analyzed the results of the current OTA wave, we would like to inform you about the next steps, as promised:

• We will start an additional ID. software 3.0 OTA wave for those who registered for the “I want OTA” action via email but were not able to be included in the previous wave (please note that the vehicle must meet the requirements. All emails will be reconsidered received by Nov. 30th, 2022)
• We have noticed that a few vehicles can currently not be supplied with OTA updates due to a certain hardware composition. We are working on a service solution for these vehicles.
• The above-mentioned ID. software 3.0 OTA-wave is planned to start in December 2022. We will soon provide you with detailed information about the start of the upcoming wave as well as tips for successfully installing the OTA update.

We know that you had to wait some time for the update and would like to thank you for your feedback and patience.

To avoid confusion, we would also like to inform you that we are launching an additional OTA campaign for certain MEB vehicles of the Volkswagen and SKODA brands that were built and delivered with ID. software 3.0 already installed. The customers with certain MEB vehicles having ID. software 3.0 already installed during the production process will receive an optimized version of the ID. software 3.0 software factory-version via an OTA campaign.

As usual the update will be rolled out in the form of a canary release – i.e. in staggered waves that grow in the number of participants. The software contains optimizations and no new features. Over the next few weeks participating vehicles will display the familiar notification in the infotainment system. You can find more information about the update in the release notes available there and start the installation as usual via the exit panel.

Immaginavo che il ridotto numero di vetture coinvolte nella prima ondata fosse dovuto alla necessità di avere un quadro chiaro delle problematiche che potessero emergere durante l'installazione prima di estendere a tutti l'aggiornamento. Non avevo dubbi che sarebbe arrivato a tutti entro poco tempo, almeno a coloro che ne avevano fatto richiesta con la famosa email. Credo che entro un paio di mesi arriverà a tutti indistintamente.
