Is there any possibility to get an ENEL or DUE or other widely used RFID when arriving in Italy?

Is there any possibility to get an ENEL or DUE or other widely used RFID when arriving in Italy?

Messaggio da Supergrover »

Hello All, I'm Rinus van Vliet, I am from the Netherlands and want to travel into Italy with Rome as my final goal. I will go with my family in my Hyundai Ioniq. But I'm a little bit concerned about the charging in Italy: From what I read I think it's a very good idea to get a Enel RFID pass but this company refuses to ship outside Italy. (And also actually a DUE (Duferco) one, this should be on it's way to my address but I think it will arrive too late).

Can someone help me on this topic : I have these questions as foreigner:
- Is the Enel X recharge app trustworthy enough for activating the charging stations (DC fast) ?
- I expect to possibly end up in trouble when using the app while roaming, what do you think should I get an Italian SIM card just over the border?
- Is there any possibility to get an ENEL or DUE or other widely used RFID when arriving in Italy?
- Is anyone maybe in the position and willingly to help me get my hands on a good RFID pass not further then max. 200KM's from the Swiss border? For lending or buying , off course I don't want you to have costs on it!

If someone could please inform me about the app or help me out with RFID that would be much, much appreciated. In the meanwhile I trust also a little bit on the attached image for emergencies... ;)

Dear Supergrover

If you download EnelX App and create an Account and joint a Credit Card..you can charge up at any Enel Station using App (no Card required)
With Duferco..the best is again to use the App, creating an Account in advance, connecting a Credit card and charge using the "spot" cost that is 2,5 euro/h (only available on Duferco pole, but on Enel pole you cab use the Enel APP)

By end October Enel station should be shared by EVWAY..maybe you have already an App that is cosharing with EVWAY..but only from end october.

In any case..using https://goelectricstations.it/ is not impossible to move from Swiss border to Rome using free pole..especially Tesla Destination charger (on supermarket or when you stop for food or overnight) and non TDC place generally on Supermarket (Lidl for instace..but 7-11-22 AC..never fast)

Hello Rinus,
45.147697, 8.990424 this is GPS coords of a fast charging station (FREE) in gas station of A7 (E26) freeway, it could be very useful for Your trip!

About ENEL recharge service, App is quite good, but You need roaming, of course. Check Your phone plan about costs and coverage.
About the card, You can have it only with mail delivery, bad service...
Keep us updated on this forum so We can help You if needed, ok?

Thanks for your replies so far! I'm very very busy at the moment so sorry I could not present my self first in the presentations, maybe I will this evening.

So if I understand right you guys (and girls) think the App(s) work quite allright as long as I have a good mobile connection. That's feasable I think, I've enough experience and good coverage of mobile roaming all over Europe so then I'll be OK. Unless someone stands up saying these apps are all worthless and I'm going to end in sub zero percent hell. ;) Then I will come back on your offer at San Gaudenzio Carlo, for sure.

Thank you Carlo for the charger, Free is nice to have off-course but that's not my goal; Rome is on the other end.

google translate:
